Job Description


Comply with HSE policies, objectives and management systems.
Lead a team of managers and supervisors in the day-to-day management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, proposals, estimates, documentation turnover, client relations/management, field staff and other duties required to execute Engineer Procure Construct (EPC), Construction Management, Construction, and Program Management projects
Review and amend work methods to eliminate risks.
Ensure Risk Assessment processes and HSE plans are properly applied within each project team.
Ensure HSE data and reporting requirements are complied with on each project.
Ensure Projects develop emergency response plan and comply with requirements (when required).
Comply with policies, objectives and management system requirements in line with law of the land.
Ensure Business Operations comply with statutory and contractual requirements.
Closely work with Project managers to verify compliance of sub-contractors and client contractors
IFC/ Developers special requirement compliances
Ensure that a Quality Management Plans are produced and implemented in Business Operations.
Prepare written procedures and documentation that contribute to the continuous improvement process
Implement and execute quality assurance plans
Ensure that a Project Environmental Management Plan is produced and implemented for each project.
Contribute to strategic planning as key member of the executive team.
Contribute to the development of pricing strategies.
Help negotiate and check the terms of new commercial contracts with customers and suppliers.
Maintain a focus on increasing the enterprise value of the company.
Attend any relevant industry functions focused on business management, strategy, technology and project delivery
Negotiate contracts, design and build power plants, deliver on revenue and schedule project goals.
Built innovative monitoring system to oversee procurement, logistics and installation of components
Interact with other company departments in a matrix organisation, including manufacturing, business development, engineering design, procurement, etc.
Handle Union negotiations, legal battles, company lay offs, etc.
Customise and implement industry best business practices
Oversee and track the productivity of operational / project teams and trouble-shoot as required to ensure profitable, on-time delivery.
Support development of and oversee materials receiving and management process, including inventory control, receiving of goods, storage, and transportation.
Manage the end of month process in regards to project appraisals and claim.
Negotiate and build relationships with key clients and stakeholders, removing road-blocks as required.

Identification of contract requirements and client procedures.
Operate within the approved project budget.
Oversee the review of progress and cost outcomes and ensure that early, appropriate and effective actions are taken as a result of reviews to ensure project commercial outcomes are met.
Monitor field production progress quantities against budget and forecast final costs per item.
Monitor and report on project construction delivery costs and develop strategies and recommendations for recovery actions in the event of overruns.
Preparation of RFT documents for subcontracts, professional services, plant hire and purchasing.
Monitor the contract administration, ensuring that rights and obligations are exercised, and proper records are kept.
Expert in the review, negotiation, approval, and execution of prime contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
Identify where change is instructed, or occurs without an instruction, that would constitute a Variation or Change of Scope under the Head Contract.
Manage Prime Contract, subcontractor, and supplier invoicing process
Identify delays and entitlements to extensions of time (Clear correspondence and written records).
Understand Head Contract and relevant Subcontract scope of Work e.g. Key times and dates and special conditions of contract (identification of qualifying causes of delay, variations and requirements of the contract).
Have understanding of Head Contract and Subcontracts conditions.
Accept written instructions from the client.
Review the appointment of any subcontractors and their scope to minimise project commercial, quality and safety risks.
Prepare and implement the project management plan including time plans, cost plans, risk management plans,& communicate the contents of the plan to the project and site team.
Ensure measures are in place to measure productivity factors and set target for project teams.
Participate in the development of appropriate construction methods.
Review short term production plans updates (separable portion dates achieved).
Brief Project Engineers on the content of the project programs and ensure that their look ahead programs align with the required tasks.
Resource balance labour, equipment and subcontractors (subcontract feedback).
Planning of materials, equipment and plant including long lead items.
Preparation of weekly and monthly future programs (look-ahead program).
Review progress to ensure achievement of set milestones.
Risk identification and management.
Application of hierarchy of risk controls (completion of risk assessments).
Implementation of risk management process and mitigation (regular risk review). Drive the creation of systems, practices and behaviors that promote the identification and appropriate management of potential risks and opportunities including Workplace Risk Assessments, Activity Method Statements, Task Risk Assessments, Inspection and Test Plans and Site Environmental Plans.
Monitor projects and identify and immediately act upon, any areas of exposure or risk to margin.
Analyze and communicate project status, risks, schedule and costs to all internal and external stakeholders

Ensure projects, commercial procurement practices and on site activities are conducted in accordance Clients policies and procedures as well as the National Code of Practice for the industry and relevant implementation guidelines.
Oversee the training of project teams, coordinate activities of multiple global practices/disciplines, and facilitate the efficient cost-effective utilization of staff while adhering to contractual and performance requirements
Ensure that direct reports have a clear understanding of their role purpose and accountabilities, supported by a current position description and aligned with the Project objectives.
Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged at the relevant time in the life time of the project, in addition to ensuring that their objectives are met.
Ensure all construction targets and programs are met and take corrective actions to ensure that the project milestones are achieved.
Lead and participate in performance review and development of direct and functional reports, measure progress against objectives and provide regular feedback.
Monitor staff and labour resourcing to ensure Project capability to achieve targets.

Required Candidate profile

QualificationsBachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Civil/Mechanical) preferably PMP certification.
Experience20 years or more experience in Project Execution or Project Management.
5/7 years experience in PV solar power projects.
